Abstract The provisions of the present Decree establish health requirements which fresh meat must fulfil in the context of intra-Community and third-countries trade. The Decree is divided into three sections. Section A (articles 1-13) lays down health rules and requirements for consignment to Greece, by EC-member counties, of fresh meat intended for human consumption deriving from domestic animals of the following species: bovine animals (including the species Bubalus bubalis and Bison bison), swine, sheep and goats, and domestic solipeds, in compliance with the provisions of Council Directive 91/497/EEC. Section B (articles 14-33) set forth health requirements and restrictions on importation of bovine animals, swine and fresh meat from third countries, in accordance with Council Directive 72/462/EEC, as amended. Section C (articles 34-35) regards provisions for avoiding the spread of animal infectious diseases within the European Community or in third countries.
