Abstract In conformity with this Presidential Decree the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve and the national parks "Belovezhskaya Pushcha", "Braslav Lakes", "Pripyatsky" and "Narochansky" are being transformed with changing borders, zones, regimes of protection and use of these specially protected natural areas for scientific research and recreational purposes, including tourism. The Decree approves the provisions on the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve and national parks, the boundaries, area and composition of the lands of national parks, their functional and protective zones, and amendments to previously adopted normative legal acts on proclamation of protected natural areas. As a result of the change in the structure of land use, the mapping of land reserved for protected areas has been refined with the use of modern methods, and also have been excluded from the territory of national parks land areas whose specific purpose does not meet environmental objectives. On the specified protected areas the organization of mass recreational and tourist activity, including traditional artisanal fishing and hunting, harvesting of berries and mushrooms within the boundaries of recreational and economic activity zone of national parks and on specially allotted grounds of the reserve shall be subject to regulation.
