Abstract The President, for the purpose of ensuring liquidation of pollution and choking up of water bodies, fulfilment of the obligations of Ukraine originating from international agreements in this sphere, decrees to accept the proposal forwarded by the Cabinet of Ministers as regards transformation of State coordination centre for emergency intervention at water bodies and its regional branches into State search and rescue service at water bodies subordinated to the Ministry on emergencies and protection of the population against the consequences of Chernobyl disaster. The main tasks of the Service are: 1) assistance in liquidation of pollution and choking up of water bodies; 2) setting up the system of reception of communications and information and reports on emergencies and its transmittance along the coastline of the Black sea and the Sea of Azov and internal waterways; 3) cooperation with international organizations in the sphere of liquidation of pollution and choking up of water bodies, ensuring within its sphere of competence of the fulfilment of the obligations of Ukraine originating from international agreements in this sphere.
