Abstract This Presidential Decree establishes the main tasks, structure, organization and functioning of State Veterinary Service in the field of ensuring veterinary welfare, prevention, detection and liquidation of offences in veterinary practice, prevention of introduction of infectious animal diseases, pests and pathogens, ensuring safety of animal feedstuffs, feed additives and foodstuffs of animal origin that are traded in markets. The main tasks of the State Veterinary Service shall be as follows: (a) prevention and elimination of foci of contagious animal diseases and diseases common to humans and animals; (b) organization and application of veterinary measures; (c) government supervision of technical compliance of regulations, veterinary supervision; and (d) protection of the territory of the Republic of Belarus against introduction of infectious agents (pests, pathogens) of animals from other countries.
