Entry into force notes

The Decree shall enter into force on 20 November 2005 except for the provisions of articles 14 (sanctions) which shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette.

Abstract

With the present Decree are a) established the animal health rules for the importation into and transit through the country of certain live ungulate animals and b) modified the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 528/1991 and those of Presidential Order No. 184/1996, in compliance with Council Directive 2004/68/EC. The Decree consists of 19 articles, divided in two Parts (A and B) and three Annexes. Part A lays down the animal health rules according to the provisions of the Directive. This Part is divided in two Chapters as follows: Chapter I, Subject matter, scope and definitions (articles 1-2); Chapter II, Animal health requirements applicable to imports into the community of certain live ungulate animals (articles 3-15). Part B provides for the amendments of the two afore-mentioned Presidential Decrees: article 11 (importation of equidae into the country) of Presidential Decree No. 528/1991 is hereby replaced. Also, in article 18 of the same Decree, paragraph (iv) is added, designating a Community reference laboratory for one or more of the diseases of equidae and stipulating the functions, tasks and procedures regarding collaboration with the national laboratories responsible for diagnosing infectious diseases of equidae. Regarding Presidential Order No. 184/1996, the first sub-paragraph of article 1 is hereby replaced, articles 6 is amended and a sixth Annex is added. All the amendments mentioned herewith are done according to the provisions of article 16 of Directive 2004/68/EC.
