Abstract This Presidential Decree approves the Statute of the National Institution for Social Security (INSS). The Statute, consisting of 56 articles divided into six Chapters and seven Annexes, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned INSS, entitled to registering policyholders and taxpayers, receiving and guaranteeing the payment of Social Security contributions, managing resources, assets, granting and paying social benefits of Mandatory Social Protection, under the terms of the law. The INSS has the following attributions: Ensure the rights of workers and employers linked to Mandatory Social Protection under the terms of current legislation; Promote compliance with the obligations of taxpayers and policyholders of Mandatory Social Protection, under the terms of the law; Guarantee the management of financial resources and reserve funds constituted under the terms of the law; Ensure the granting of Mandatory Social Protection benefits; Prepare the Compulsory Social Protection budget and guarantee allocation of Mandatory Social Protection benefits; Ensure compliance with the obligations arising from international social security instruments; Ensure the necessary actions for the application of sanctioning regimes, etc. Full text Portuguese Website www.legis-palop.org
