Abstract This Presidential Decree approves the Statute of the National Institute for Cultural Heritage (INPC). The Statute, consisting of 23 articles divided into five Chapters and two Annexes, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of INPC, entitled to implement public policies in the field of research, documentation, conservation, preservation, management and promotion of national historical and cultural heritage. The INPC aims at performing the following duties: a) elaborate studies and projects on the impact of policies on the preservation and promotion of the Cultural Heritage and to ensure its execution; b) guide and coordinate actions aimed at the survey, study, preservation, enhancement and dissemination of cultural heritage; e) propose legislation for the regulation of the sector; d) promote studies aimed at the classification of any kind of cultural heritage; e) increase partnerships with Local State Administration bodies for the execution of public policies related to the preservation and promotion of Cultural Heritage; f) organize the registration and classification of all immovable, movable and immaterial cultural properties; g) propose the limits of the special protection zone of classified proprieties; h) draw up special plans for the protection of major archaeological sites and monuments which are in danger of destitution and their indicative list; i) propose studies relating to the identification of historical and cultural heritage which may be included in the World Heritage List; j) monitor and supervise classified or inventoried movable and immovable properties, taking necessary actions to ensure their safeguarding, etc. Full text Portuguese Website www.cidadao.gov.ao References - Legislation Repealed by Presidential Decree No. 16/21 approving the Statute of the National Institute for Cultural Heritage (INPC).
