Abstract This Presidential Decree approves the Statute of Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Promotion of Women (MASFAMU). This Statute, consisting of 24 articles divided into five Chapters and four Annexes, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned institution, as an auxiliary Ministerial Department of the Executive Branch. In accordance with the principles, objectives and priorities defined, this Ministry is responsible to perform the following activities: designing, proposing and implementing social protection policies related to the most vulnerable groups of the population, combating poverty, family well-being protection, promotion of both rural and urban women, development of communities and the guarantee of women's rights, gender equality and equity. In particular, it aims to define and propose specific policies and strategies in the field of social protection, and promote the formulation and implementation of integrated programmes for the protection, assistance and development of vulnerable groups (gender equality and equity); support the strengthening of the institutional capacity of structures linked to the defense of the family and women's rights, as well as mechanisms for implementing policies, programmes and projects aimed at improving the living conditions of vulnerable groups and the community; promote and participate in the various multisectoral actions in the field of the comprehensive rehabilitation of the inclusion of disabled people, protection and safeguard of the well-being of children and the elderly; implement programmes that discourage and extinguish traditional practices that threaten the dignity of the human beings; etc. Full text Portuguese Website www.legis-palop.org References - Legislation Implemented by Executive Decree No. 146/20 approving the Regulation of the National Directorate for Social Action (DNAS) of the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women.
