Abstract This Law approves the Statute of the Geological Institute of Angola (IGEO) under the Presidential Legislative Decree No. 2/13. This Statute, consisting of 51 articles divided in five Chapters and three Annexes, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned national public institution IGEO, subject to the President of the Republic, exercised by the Ministerial Department responsible for the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Sector and headquartered in Luanda. Its objective is to ensure the geo-scientific knowledge and potential of the mining wealth withing the national territory, by promoting the execution and coordination of geological research and cartography, as well as to carry out studies on the mineral reserves and rocks, to provide specialized services, aiming to contribute to the sustainable development, according to with the policy and strategy of the Sub-Sector of Geology and Mines established.
