Abstract The Poverty Reduction Strategic Plan is one of the thirty-one sectoral plans that contribute to the achievement of the National Development Plan of Jamaica (2009-2030). It will be implemented until 2030 with the aim to achieve sustainable poverty reduction. To achieve this, the Plan targets improving human capabilities (education, health, public goods and employment) and opportunities to find sustainable livelihoods, facilitating access to basic goods and services (having regard to varying vulnerabilities and gender), and the establishment of effective, consistent and inclusive service delivery. The Plan will seek the following outcomes: 1) improved evidence-based mechanism for measuring and monitoring poverty; 2) equitable access to basic goods and services; 3) responsive public policy in place; 4) economic opportunities for sustainable livelihoods created or expanded; 5) social inclusion of the poor.
