Abstract

This Act makes provision for the establishment and operation of pounds and for the impounding of straying livestock animals. Pounds shall be established by the Minister and he or she shall appoint a pound keeper for every pound established. Owners of land may seize trespassing animals and shall send them to a pound at short notice. Owners of land may also kill trespassing animals. Other provisions of this Act concern, among other things, inquiry about ownership of impounded cattle, costs for the keeping of animals in pounds, administration of pounds, financial matters and illegal acts in respect of impounded animals.
