Abstract

The Act makes provision for the establishment of the Port Authority, its functions and powers, management and staff, etc., financial matters, port dues and charges, pilotage, navigation ports, prevention and fighting of accidents, and prescribes offences. The Authority is established under section 3 as a body corporate. Powers and duties of the Authority are set out in section 19. The President may acquire compulsorily land for purposes of this Act pursuant to section 20.
