This Act entered into force on 1 July 2003.
Abstract

The present Act lays down rules applicable to all ports on Iceland. Its scope includes all ports used for the handling and service of ships, handling of goods, vehicles and passengers and landing of fish. The Act contains the following Chapters: I. General provision; II. Planning of port areas and port structures; III. Operational form and information obligation of ports; IV. Port without a special port authority owned by the municipality; V. Port with a port authority owned by the municipality; VI. Port that is not considered a public operation; VII. Obligation to accept port; VIII. Government contributions to port affairs and port construction; IX. Authorization to appeal; X. Penalties, entry into force, etc.
