Abstract

This Act makes provision with respect to measures to protect plants from pests and diseases. It grants power to the Governor to appoint a Chief Plant Protection Officer and Plant Protection Officers. He or she may also take, by Proclamation, measures for the protection of plants or their fruits. Occupiers of land shall notify the occurrence on their land of a notifiable pest or disease to a Plant Protection Officer. The Act specifies powers of inspection of such officers. They may, among other things, place nurseries under quarantine.
