No plant, seed or soil may be imported without a permit from the Director of Natural Resources, except for those specified in Schedule 22. Plants and tubers specified in Schedule 3 also require a health certificate from the country of origin. An inspector may inspect, detain, quarantine, treat or destroy any plant, seed, soil, container or covering that may pose a risk of bringing pests or plant diseases into the Falkland Islands. The costs of examination and treatment are borne by the importer. Any person who imports any plant, seed or soil contrary to these regulations commits an offence. No claim for compensation shall lie for any loss incurred through the action of any inspector.
