Abstract

This Part of the Plant and Animal Quarantine Regulations of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) concerns the entry of fresh fruit and vegetables into the FSM and consignments between States of FSM. Various import requirements are specified. Import requires a permit issued by the Administrator prior to the importation. All importations of fresh fruits and vegetables from a place outside the FSM shall be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the exporting country. All imported fresh fruits and vegetables shall be examined by an Inspector on arrival. Specific provision is made for the importation of seed, cut flowers and foliage, timber, grass, bamboo, cane, palm fronds and goods manufactured from such materials, soil, sand and gravel, packing material, dunnage and second-hand bags, handicrafts made from plant material and bacteria, viruses, vaccines, cultures and organisms.
