Abstract

These Regulations set out procedural requirements in relation to the preparation of the review and update of regional planning guidelines by regional authorities. These procedural requirements supplement those already set out in the Planning and Development Act 2000. The Regulations also specify the National Spatial Strategy as being of relevance to the determination of strategic planning policies. Regional authorities shall take into account the National Spatial Strategy and updates, when preparing and making regional planning guidelines. Some provisions of these Regulations concern environmental reports under the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations 2004.
