Abstract

These Regulations, consisting of 19 Sections and one Annex, are aimed at upgrading the EIA system in Israel and to help incorporate environmental considerations in earlier stages of the planning and decision making processes and to incorporate sustainable development principles in EIAs. The regulations, which were drafted by the Ministry of the Environment in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior (and in consultation with the National Planning and Building Board), are based on the experience gained in Israel over the past two decades and on a review of EIA systems in other countries.
