Abstract

The strategic guidelines of the PPCerrado guide the actions and embrace the logic of the four thematic axes. In this way, the following guidelines for PPCerrado, which remain the same as in the second phase of the Plan (2014-2015), are the following: I. Contribute to the Union's organs, entities, municipalities and civil society working in an integrated and articulated way with a view to promoting the conservation and protection of the Cerrado biome, including the effort to transform the Cerrado into national heritage and to promote and encourage meetings and cultural activities; II. Develop and implement a deforestation monitoring system based on satellite data to produce reliable data on spatial and temporal distribution of deforested areas, allowing government action to control illegal deforestation; III. Strengthen the National System of Conservation Units (SNUC), in order to contribute to the creation and implementation of conservation units of integral protection and their sustainable use; IV. Strengthen traditional communities, indigenous populations, family farmers and small-scale farmers, guaranteeing access to land, natural resources and the means of production necessary for the improvement of their quality of life; V. Promote the participation of society in the environmental management of the Biome and promote the transversality and decentralization of public policies regarding the sustainable use of the natural resources of the Cerrado; VI. Promote the sustainable use of biodiversity and the protection of the ecosystems of the Cerrado, aiming at the maintenance and improvement of environmental services, valuing their environmental, social and economic importance; VII. Foster the integrated environmental management of rural properties through the Rural Environmental Registry; VIII. Prioritize the extension of planted forests in already converted areas, in order to reduce deforestation of native vegetation to produce charcoal; IX. Articulate the creation of economic and credit incentives that promote the recovery of areas of permanent preservation and legal reserve; X. Focus the actions of the Plan on priority areas for conservation.
