Abstract

The present Regulations enact the Pipeline Act. The Regulations apply in respect of pipelines designed, constructed, operated, maintained or abandoned in Nova Scotia lands after 16 September 1998. No person shall construct or operate a pipeline except pursuant to a permit issued by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board. Permits and licences may contain such terms and conditions as the Board considers appropriate or as are prescribed by the present Regulations. The text consists of 64 sections divided into 15 Parts as follows: General (I); Design (II); Materials (III); Quality assurance and environmental management (IV); Field joining (V); Construction (VI); Field testing (VII); Operation and maintenance (VIII); Suspension, removal, discontinuance or abandonment (IX); Reporting (X); Audits and inspections (XI); Record retention (XII); Protection of pipelines (XIII); Certifying authority (XIV); Non-Derogation (XV).
