Abstract

This Order requires: a person keeping pigs on a holding to notify the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; requires records to be kept; pigs to be marked with ear tags or tattoos. The Order specifies what these identification marks must contain, provides rules for removal and replacement of marks and deals with documentation necessary when pigs are moved. On receiving a notification, the Department may allocate a holding code. The Order also specifies the conditions whereby the Department may restrict the movement of a pig off a holding or restrict the movement of pigs onto or off a holding.
