Abstract This Act is enacted by the State for the purpose of ensuring energy security, equity, and sustainability. The Act provides for formulating multidisciplinary or trans-disciplinary research-based policies and strategies for the cost-effective use of energy resources towards environmentally sound energy development by the Philippine Energy Research and Policy Institute. The Act further outlines objectives, powers and functions of the Institute, organisational structure, budget and powers of Boards of the Institute, and the government contribution to research funding and tax exemption.
