For this purpose, the Act establishes the Pharmacy Council and requires pharmacies and pharmacists to be registered with the Registrar appointed by the Minister. The Act also, among other things: provides for control of prescriptions; requires a licence for the sale of poisons to be obtained; and requires every person who sells poison to maintain a Poisons Book.
