The Regulations lay down comprehensive provisions relating to exploration licences and proceedings. For the purpose of the present Regulations “agreement” means an agreement entered into pursuant to section 14 of the Act to explore for petroleum and includes an agreement entered into pursuant to section 16 of the Act to explore for coal gas. Part I deals with general issues, such as, for example, right holders, land division, exploration licences; Part 2 deals with application for exploration agreements: In particular, section 39 establishes that the Minister may give notice in the Royal Gazette and in such other manner as he considers appropriate that he will receive suggestions for specific lands to be included in future calls for exploration proposals. Part 3 lays down provisions relating only to coal gas, such as, for example, coal gas exploration agreement, coal gas production agreement, coal rights, development programme, surface outlet, well.
