Abstract

These Regulations implement provisions of the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act with respect to a wide variety of matters including: application for a petroleum prospecting licence or petroleum production licence and granting, transfer or renewal of such licences; obligations of licence holders; work practices and duties of the licensee during operations; the licensee’s duty to protect the environment; dealing with emergencies; surveys; drilling; planning and monitoring of production; as for protection of the environment, the duties of a licensee concern handling of waste, prevention of contamination (of water); treatment of oil; burning of petroleum; and disposal of produced petroleum and gas.
