Abstract

These Regulations implement the Petroleum Act 2000 by providing specifications on licence applications, the duty to carry out environmental impact assessment, the classification of activities related to petroleum and the definition of environmental objectives (Part 3) and on entry into land for the purposes of the Act. The Regulations also clarify matters related to operational issues, in particular, geophysical surveys, drilling, pipelines and emergency response procedures (Part 6). Part 7 covers reporting requirements for incidents and also for annual reports on operations related to petroleum exploration, mining and transportation.
