Abstract

This Act, consisting of 138 sections divided into 16 Parts and completed by one Schedule, aims at creating an effective, efficient and flexible regulatory system for the industries involving exploration for, and the recovery or commercial utilization of, petroleum and other resources (including geothermal resources); encouraging and maintaining an appropriate level of competition in exploration for and production of petroleum and other resources; minimizing environmental damage caused by activities involved in exploration for petroleum; etc.
