For the purpose of the present Act the term "persistent organic pollutants" means chemical substances that pose hazards to people and ecosystems, having the characteristics of toxicity, persistence, bioaccumulation, long-range transportability, which are prescribed by the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
