The Board shall also be involved in the processing of paddy and rice (sect. 3). The Minister may after consultation with the Board, by Order published in the Gazette purchase, supply, transport and process paddy and rice (sect. 4). The Board may authorize any society registered under the Cooperative Societies Law or Agrarian Services Act to purchase paddy (sect. 6). Persons require authorization from the Board in order to sell, supply, transport, distribute or process paddy and rice. The Board may fix guaranteed prices for a variety of paddy (sect. 7). There are provisions relating to the constitution of the Board (sect. 14), appointments, funding (sect. 24) and acquisition and use of property by the Board (sect. 33). Section 44 relates to compensation payable under the Act in respect of any property vested in or requisitioned for the Board. The Minister may make regulations for the purpose of carrying out or giving effect to the principles and provisions of the Act (sect. 62). Full text English
