Abstract

This Act seeks to safeguard the interest of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes with regard to their ownership of timber or other trees mentioned in the Act. The Act states that no contract entered into with members of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes for the sale of these trees shall be valid unless approved by the Range Officer or Divisional Forest Officer appointed by the State Government.
