Abstract

The purpose of the present Ordinance is to implement the Council Directive 76/464/EEC on pollution caused by certain hazardous substances discharged into the aquatic environment of the Community of 4 May 1976. Article 1 of the afore-mentioned Ordinance establishes that to protect the lives of aquatic animals and plants and human health the quality targets set out in Annex 2 shall be applied to all surface and coastal waters. A quality target is reached when the target value is not exceeded. The text consists of 4 articles as follows: Establishment of quality targets (1); Programmes to achieve the quality targets (2); Authorization for the use of waters (3); Entry into force (4).
