Abstract The present Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the safety of toys. In particular, the Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the safety of toys. Article 3 establishes that when placing their toys on the market, manufacturers shall ensure that they have been designed and manufactured in accordance with the general safety requirements. The text - consisting of 24 articles - deals, inter alia, with sphere of application, definition of terms, general obligations of producers, special marking and information obligations of producers, authorized representatives, obligations of importers, obligations of dealers, essential safety requirements, warnings, conformity with EC regulations, security assessment, technical documents, precautionary principle, treatment of toys with an associated risk, exchange of information, penalties, transitional provisions.
