Abstract The present Ordinance implements various federal regulations on protection of waters. In particular, it sets out the competence of public and private bodies. Whoever erects buildings or industrial plants which could lead to water pollution shall need a water protection authorization. Authorities and public bodies may charge private bodies with the task of assessing the threat of water pollution whenever they deem it necessary. Part II lays down competences and tasks of the Canton, whereas Part III deals with competences and tasks of local authorities. The text consists of 39 articles divided into 5 parts.
