Abstract The present Ordinance enforces the Federal Act on investment aid for mountain areas of 21 March 1997. The Ordinance aims to: a) improve the economic conditions for development and competitiveness in mountain areas, b) encourage the exploitation of regional potentials, c) contribute to the maintenance of decentralized settlement and the socio-cultural independence and diversity of the region; d) promote cooperation between communities, subregions and regions.
