Abstract This Ordinance, as in accordance with the terms of national Law on livestock, determines the conditions and the order for exercising control over different phases and types of activities of authorized animal breeding organizations present on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. This kind of control shall be carried out by the Executive Agency for Selection and Reproduction in Animal Husbandry at the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. The control over the animal reproduction activity of such breeding organizations will further include inspections on several animal health related requirements and breeding methods as listed in article 2 (mainly registration of animals included in the breeding programme; control of the biological, economic and productive quality; presence, conditions, and correct manner of keeping of genealogical books; reliability of the data in issued individual zootechnical certificates; production of elite and high breeding value animals; technological equipment related to the production and storage of animal sperm, ova and embryos; quality of the produced animal sperm, ova and embryos; performance of specific artificial insemination, embryo transplantation and in vitro fertilization; and other).
