Abstract The present Ordinance implements the federal legislation on animal protection. Article 1 establishes that the Health and Consumer Protection Office is responsible for the implementation of the federal legislation on animal protection. The Office is responsible for: a) granting and revoking authorizations; b) authorizing animals experiments; c) issuing provisions concerning prohibition to keep animals; d) Intervention in case of cruelty to animals; e) Inspection of animal keeping enterprises; f) Approval of zoological gardens and animal parks; g) Reporting of related documents to competent authorities.
