Abstract This Order, consisting of 45 articles and 13 Annexes, regulates administrative and technical procedures for Environmental Licensing of Wood Industry in the State of Maranhão. This Order establishes the requirements to be satisfied in order to obtain environmental licence by wood industry activity. It does not apply to the Environmental Licensing of projects and activities of Wood Industries with more than 5.000m2 and considered potentially causing significant environmental degradation. In the case of above mentioned licensing activity, the entrepreneur may require Prior Consultation with the State Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMA), to determine the most appropriate procedures and environmental studies.
