Abstract This Order, consisting of 39 articles, regulates agricultural administrative and technical procedures for controlled fires within the State of Maranhão. It establishes all the requirements to be met in order to perform controlled fires used for different purposes. Controlled fires permits will be issued only for the following purposes: traditional practice of family farming; fires of sugar cane; not re-usable forestry waste; scientific purposes; conservation management of native vegetation in protected areas.
