Abstract This National Sanitary Surveillance Board Resolution approves the Technical Regulation on Transitional Food for Infants and Young Children (up to 3 years old). Its objective is to establish the identity and minimum quality characteristics that Transition Food should satisfy. The transitional food is processed and preserved by physical means, and can be classified according to the form of presentation, its appearance and size of the particles. This Transitional Food is subject to the same administrative procedures required for food registration in general. The labelling of Transitional Food for Infants and Young Children, in addition to the required information for general food, food for special purposes and the Brazilian Standard for Commercialization of Food for Infants, must contain specific information.
