Abstract

The Ministry establishes that state nature reserve of federal significance “Big Arctic” shall have the status of state environmental protection, scientific research and educational institution with the scope of conservation and study of unique natural processes, wild animal and wild plant genetic resources, some animal and plant populations, typical and unique ecosystems. State nature reserve “Big Arctic” shall be located in the Krasnoyarsk area. Reserve shall have the following purposes: (a) conservation of biological diversity, and ecosystem preservation; (b) research; (c) ecological monitoring; (d) ecological education; and (e) training of scientific personnel. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of reserve: (a) all types of hunting and fisheries; (b) any activity that can cause modification of the existing hydrological regime of soil; (c) transit passage of cattle; (d) construction; (e) application of chemicals and fertilizers; (f) timber extraction, logging and procurement of non-timber forest products; and (g) introduction and acclimatization of living organisms.
