Abstract This Order establishes periodical closed seasons for fishing activity in the proximity of 'Podocnemis expansa' turtle nest. It consists of 4 articles listing out all protected areas of fresh waters with relevant seasons in which fishing activity is strictly prohibited in order to protect such turtles during mating period. During prohibited seasons, fishing activity is permitted only beyond 2 km from the river banks. It prescribes sanctions to be paid by offenders in compliance with articles 56 and 71 of Decree-Law No. 221 of 28 February 1967. Full text Portuguese
