Abstract This Order regulates the use of suction pumps in order to protect alevin fish. It consists of 6 articles establishing the requirements to be satisfied for water captation (with irrigation purpose) from rivers and lakes. It prescribes the obligation to place a protective net (with maximum mesh of 1 cm2) on the aforementioned pumps in order to protect alevin fish, establishes controls to be carried out by Sudepe services and lays down sanctions to be paid by offenders, in compliance with article 56 of Decree-Law No. 221 of 28 February 1967.
