Abstract

Carpathian national natural park is budgetary, non-profit, nature conservation, recreational, cultural-educational, scientific-research institution and is classified as part of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine, protected as national property for which a special regime of protection, reproduction and management is established. The park is an interregional research institution on issues of improving the sanitary condition of the forests of the nature reserve fund, which performs the functions of a state specialized forest protection enterprise and, in particular, in the part related to forest pathological examinations of plantations with preparation of acts of forest pathology surveys and approval of lists of measures to improve the sanitary condition of forests. Management of the park is entrusted to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources. The main tasks of the Park are: (a) preservation and reproduction of valuable natural and historical and cultural complexes and objects on its territory, in particular endangered and protected wild fauna and flora species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and international lists of endangered and protected species, and natural habitats thereof; (b) creation of conditions for organized tourism, recreation and other types of recreational activities in natural conditions with observance of the protection regime of the park; (c) organization and implementation of research works, including studies of natural complexes and their changes under conditions of recreational use, development and implementation of scientific recommendations on protection issues of natural environment, reproduction of certain types of flora and fauna, restoration of disturbed ecosystems, management and effective use of natural resources, organization and conduct of monitoring landscape and biological diversity; and (d) carrying out ecological educational work.
