Abstract

The present Instruction establishes veterinary and sanitary arrangements case of the outbreak of Egg drop syndrome (EDS-76) in the poultry farming enterprises of all forms of ownership, the modalities of carrying out the preventive arrangements against Egg drop syndrome (EDS-76), the modalities of the internal utilization and trade of eggs and poultry products obtained from the slaughtering of sick poultry and shall be compulsory for all poultry keeping enterprises. The source of infection is ill poultry and previously infected and subsequently recovered poultry that secrete virus through placenta, nasal and pharyngeal mucus, and also with eggs. The disease shall be diagnosed on the basis of the study of epizootic data, clinical signs, pathological and anatomical changes and laboratory research with the particular attention to the analysis of egg drop among the mature poultry, destruction of embryos and day-old chicks. The virus shall be extracted from the pathological material (sink, liver, oviduct, spleen, blood, leucocytes, and faeces) necessarily within the first ten days since the outbreak. For the purpose of the prevention of Egg drop syndrome (EDS-76) the following arrangements must be carried out: 1) to form the flocks with the day-old chicks originating from the poultry farming enterprises that are free of infectious poultry diseases; 2) to ensure the optimal zoohygienic and zootechnical arrangements for poultry keeping and full feeding; 3) to carry out disinfection and disinfestations; 4) to replenish the poultry farming enterprises with the even-aged poultry; 5) to ensure separate incubation of the imported eggs and the proper eggs; 6) to grow the day-old chicks obtained from the imported eggs apart from the proper poultry; 7) to carry out disinfection of the clothing, boots and hands of the attendants. In case of the exposure of Egg drop syndrome (EDS-76) quarantine shall be imposed prohibiting the following operations: 1) transfer of poultry from the infected poultry-yards to any other premise or to any other farm; 2) transfer of poultry within the poultry-yard; 3) utilization of eggs originating from the infected poultry-yards for incubation; 4) utilization of the packages without prior disinfection; 5) transportation of feed and equipment from the territory of the infected farm; 6) transportation of down and feathers for processing without prior disinfection; 7) transportation and storage of the eggs originating from the infected poultry farms together with the eggs originating from the poultry farms free of the infection.
