Abstract This Order approves the Regulation for the application of the Rural Development Programme (PRODER) Measure 1.6.1 on "Irrigation Development", within the "Promotion of competitivity measures". This Regulation, consisting of 2 Chapters and 1 Annex, establishes requirements to be met and criteria to benefit from incentives on irrigation sector. Main objectives of this measures are: a) to develop collective hydro-agricultural (public or private) projects, in the area of water captation and storage to be used for irrigation purpose, preferably superficial waters, and water transportation and supply networks for irrigation purpose; b) to improve land structure of benefitting areas from these projects; c) to give incentives to new technologies, in particular through the implementation of more efficient water transport and supply systems and irrigation methods; d) to promote the harmonisation of production systems to the local environment. This Regulation applies only for the continental area of Portugal.
