Abstract

This Order establishes that fisheries in the basin of the Black Sea shall be conducted in accordance with the procedure set forth by the Order No. 164 of the State Fisheries Department validating the Regulation on industrial fisheries in the Black Sea. It sets forth fishing quotas, authorized fishing gear and fishing methods. Marking of fishing vessels must correspond to the national standard of Ukraine. Users of aquatic biological resources must mark fishing gear and timely inform territorial bodies of State Fisheries Agency on detection of diseases of aquatic biological resources, degradation of their habitat or mass mortality. During specialized fishing in the Black Sea, the volume of bycatch of small fry, for which no industrial measure has been established, is not limited. Spawning ban on fishing for the Black Sea turbot in exclusive (maritime) economic zone is set from 01 to 30 May. Number of fishing vessels operating sprat fishing at the same time by deep-sea trawls, from 10 February to 31 March and from 1 November to 31 December is limited to 20 units. Distribution of the number of fishing vessels between users of aquatic biological resources, as well as overall control over the number of these vessels shall be performed by the territorial bodies of the State Fisheries Agency. Accidental bycatch of aquatic and non-aquatic animals belonging to aquatic biological resources (amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals) should be returned to natural environment, which must be carried out carefully to avoid further injury to the removed organisms.
