Abstract

The Ministry establishes that state nature reserve of federal significance “Nenezky” shall have the status of biological (game) reserve and is destined for conservation and reproduction of precious, rare and endangered animal species and natural habitats thereof. Reserve shall be located in the Northern part of Nenez autonomous region in the easternmost tip of Arctic prairie (tundra) with total area of 308, 5 thousand ha. Reserve shall have the following purposes: (a) conservation of biological diversity and keeping ecosystem in its natural state; (b) conservation of precious, rare and endangered animal species; (c) research; (d) ecological monitoring; and (e) ecological education. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of reserve: (a) collection of bird eggs; (b) hunting (except for traditional hunting by indigenous communities); (c) all kinds of fisheries; (d) logging; (e) irrigation and land reclamation; (f) construction; (g) application of chemicals and fertilizers; (h) recreational activity outside delimited areas; and (i) introduction and acclimatization of living organisms.
