Abstract This Order sets regulations for the monitoring and inspection, research and analysis of algal sites where harvesting of mussels takes place. These regulations include the application of hygiene methods for cleaning and conditioning of mussels destined for human consumption, with the purpose of meeting health standards and microbiological classification criteria. Rules may be suspended, should there be risks of poison in specific algal areas which may compromise the quality of mussel harvesting. The Ministry of Environment and Food shall regulate provisions of this Order through its Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. The latter will ensure to adhere to regulations to EU provisions while it shall not be responsible for costs incurred for the procurement, submission and testing of samples, reporting of analytical results required under this Order.
