Country/Territory Ukraine Document type Regulation Date 1994 (2005) Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Water Keyword Water supply Sewerage Potable water Water quality standards Geographical area Black Sea, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), Eastern Europe, Europe, Europe and Central Asia Abstract The present Order consists of 23 sections dealing with the following matters: (a) general provisions (sect. 1); (b) modalities of the connection of users to the communal water supply systems (sect. 2); (c) modalities of the connection of water pipes to the adjacent water supply systems (sect. 3);(d) registration and monitoring of water supply (sect. 4); (e) regulation of free pressure (sect. 5); (f) water supply in case of fire (sect. 6); (g) sewers and standpipes (sect. 7); (h) temporary canals of water supply systems (sect. 8); (i) water leakage (sect. 9); (j) readout of water metering data (sect. 10); (k) registration of water (sect. 11); (l) registration of water users and the modalities of collection of water and sewerage charges (sect. 12); (m) termination of water supply (sect. 13); (n) modalities of the connection to the communal sewerage systems (sects. 14-16); (o) modalities of the utilization of sewerage systems (sect. 17); (p) collecting systems and drainage lines (sect. 18); (q) local sewerage (sect. 19); (t) maintenance of drainage systems (sect. 20); (r) registration of waste water and modalities of payment for drainage and waste water treatment (sect. 21); (s) repairs, maintenance and preparation for the operation of water supply and sewerage systems under winter conditions (sect. 22); (t) protection of communal water supply and sewerage systems (sect. 23). The present Order establishes the modalities of water supply of potable water, discharge of waste water into communal sewerage system and determines the relationship between water supply and sewerage systems and the users. The Ordershall be compulsory for all citizens, enterprises, organizations and institutions, irrespectively of the form of property and departmental subordination, that use communal water supply and sewerage systems. Potable water must comply with the state water quality standards. Discharge into sewerage systems of non-polluted waste water shall be prohibited. It shall be strictly forbidden to connect potable water supply systems to non-potable water supply systems. Unauthorized connection to the functioning water supply system shall be prohibited. Public water pumps shall be destined for collective use. The users shall not be authorized to exceed the established limits of water consumption. Water supply systems may be suspended or restricted without prior notice in the following cases: (a) power outage, (b) water supply in case of fire, (c) natural disaster, (d) technical accidents at water supply systems, sewerage systems and engineering services of buildings and constructions, (e) damage or misfunctioning of internal water installations causing water leakage.
