Mate of the deck is responsible for recording of data in the fishing register while the master is in charge of correct and timely keeping thereof. The fishing register must have reference number, must be tied together and sealed by the ship-owner’s seal. The completed fishing register must be stored for at least one year and then turned over to the fisheries department of the ship-owner. Data must be recorded in the fishing vessel from the beginning of fisheries to the end thereof. Fishing gear must be indicated in conformity with FAO abbreviations and codes.
